Form of antimony dissolved into electrolyte during copper electrorefining

Abstract

The oxidation state of antimony (Sd) dissolved in a copper electrolyte was investigated to control the concentration of Sb (V) which relates to floating slime formation during copper electrorefining. The fractional determination of Sb (III) and Sb (V) was completed by using the atomic absorption spectrophtometry (AAS) combined with a solvent extraction. Diethylammonium diethydithiocarbamate (DDTC) in chloroform was used as the extractant and it selectively extracted Sb (III) from the sample solution selectively.
