Abstract

Introduction The increasing use of prosthetic equipment is driven by the development of robotics technology for supporting the daily life of physically challenged people, for example, people with disabilities due to amputations, muscular debility, or nerve diseases. The concept of embodiment suggests the integration of natural behaviour and human intelligence towards useful and robust performance of cyber robotics systems. The goal of this research is a mutually adaptable prosthetic system that can recognise human intentions and accommodate the multifunctional adaptive mechanisms of the human brain. Our research encompasses mechanical design, computational system design, biofeedback system design, and analysis of human adaptation. Section 10.2 introduces previous relevant research.
