Flexible color LCD panel driven by low-voltage operation organic TFT

Abstract

An organic TFT (OTFT)-driven color flexible ferroelectric LC (FLC) display panel with 64×64 pixels and a resolution of 50 ppi, that includes a flexible backlight sheet, has been developed. We integrated a flexible FLC with polymer networks and walls, and a pentacene-OTFT using the printing and lamination technique. The fabricated OTFT array with an anodized Ta 2O5 gate insulator demonstrated a mobility of 0.3 cm 2/Vs and an on/off ratio of over 107 at a low drain voltage of-6V. Moving color images were successively displayed using an active-matrix driving technique of the OTFT based on a field-sequential method.
