Field-sequential color LCD panel driven by low-voltage operation organic TFT

Abstract

A field-sequential color LCD panel, which integrates organic TFT (OTFT) with fast-response ferroelectric liquid crystal (FLC), has been fabricated on a plastic film. The fabricated pentacene based-OTFT with Ta2O 5 gate insulator showed a mobility of 0.3 cm2/Vs and a current on/off ratio of 107 at a low drain voltage of-5V. The OTFT and the FLC with polymer networks and walls were assembled by the printing technique. Fast-response speed and color display operation are successively demonstrated.
