Abstract
The use of a low-spin Fe III complex bearing three imidazolate groups in a reaction with Mn III salen-type complexes provided two different imidazolate-bridged Mn IIIFe III assemblies, a dinuclear complex and a onedimensional chain, dependent on the salen ligand and counter ion used. Both compounds exhibit a ferromagnetic exchange between Mn III and Fe III centers via the imidazolate linkage.
