FEM analysis of single pole type head for 1 TBPSI recording

Abstract

A study was performed to obtain a single-pole-type (SPT) head with large recording field, small stray, and skew-effect-free field distribution. Finite element method (FEM) simulation was used for the study. Three new structures for the head were introduced in order to satisfy large recording field, small stray fields to the adjacent tracks, and skew-effect-free field distribution.
