Fe-based soft magnetic amorphous alloys with a wide supercooled liquid region

Abstract

Amorphous alloys with composition Fe-Co-Ni-Hf-B have been found to have a wide supercooled liquid region exceeding 80 K before crystallization. To determine the compositional effects of Hf or B on the glass transition temperature, crystallization temperature, supercooled liquid region, and magnetic properties of amorphous alloys, Hf was replaced by a transition metal M. The alloys were found to exhibit wide supercooled liquid region before crystallization and good soft magnetic properties.
