Abstract
Temperature dependence of the Sm valence in the classical mixed valence (MV) systems Sm1-xYxS was characterized and their dynamical magnetic response was studied. Influence of Sm-Sm interactions was observed on the excitation spectrum of the mixed-valence f-electrons. Results of the lattice constant LIII-edge and acoustic phonon dispersion measurements showed that all alloys were in an homogeneous MV state.
