Abstract
The microporosity and pore size distribution of microporous carbons with high specific surface area were investigated. The carbons were synthesized in the nanochannels of powdered zeolite Y (Na-form, SiO2/Al 2O3 = 5.6), and were referred as zeolite template carbon (ZTC). The properties of the commercial microporous carbons and ZTC were also investigated. It was observed from the x-ray diffraction analysis that ZTC had a structural regularity with a periodicity of about 1.4 nm, originating from the ordering of the 111 planes of zeolite Y. It was also observed the large micropores were dominant in ZTC, after the CO2 adsorption at 0 °C.
