Abstract
The external optical feedback resistant characteristics of partially corrugated waveguide laser diodes (PC-LDs) for the temperature range -40 °C to +85 °C were investigated. The bit-error-rate (BER) characteristics under modulating 622 Mbit/s NRZ 223 -1 PRBS signal were also studied. Power penalties under the conditions of -14 dB and -8.5 dB optical feedback were 0.2 dB and 1.0 dB, respectively, in the temperature range studied. These results indicate that the PC-LDs are suitable for use in isolator-free and uncooled LD modules.
