Abstract
In the course of a study to elucidate the physiological functions of type 2C protein phosphatase(PP2C), we investigated the effects of overexpression of the enzyme protein on the physiology of eukaryotes. In this study, we demonstrated that the overexpression of PP2Cα caused a decreased growth rate and an increased UV-sensitivity of the yeast cells. We also showed that the expressed PP2C was phosphorylated by casein kinase II in the cells.
