Experimental verification of low-velocity spread axis-encircling electron beam

Abstract

The low-velocity spread axis-encircling electron beam was investigated using Pierce-type electron gun and single cusp magnetic field. The investigation was based on theory developed with assumption of small orbit gyration before magnetic cusp in which every physical property was analyzed. The absolute axial velocity spread was also described using energy conservation law which was found to be zero with chosen set of parameters. The velocity ratio and axial velocity spread were measured which were compared with varied operation conditions of electron gun.
