A tone correction is sometimes applied to the evaluation of noisiness or annoyance of a wide-band noise containing an intense tone or a dominant narrow-band component. Moreover, ISO/DIS 1996/2 suggests a possibility of tone adjustment. This document is applied to environmental noise, but the basis for tone adjustment is not clear. This study discusses the necessity of tone correction for loudness as well as for noisiness of wide-band noise containing a pure tone component.
