Excitation and decay of the isovector giant monopole resonances via the 208Pb(3He, tp) reaction at 410 MeV

Abstract

The IVSGMR was identified using the 208Pb(3He,t) reaction at 410 MeV. A total of (60±5±14)% of the NM strength was found, where the first error is statistical and the second the combined systematical one. The branching ratio for proton decay from the IVSGMR was (52±12)%. In contrast to prediction, no evidence for feeding of the 1i13/2 final state was found. Instead, the deep-hole states in 207Pb are strongly populated.
