Evaluation of creep residual life for modified 9Cr-1 Mo steel based on the omega method

Abstract

In order to estimate the creep residual life of power boiler Modified 9Cr-1 Mo steel more accurately, a series of creep tests were conducted at 500°C, 550°C and 600°C, and the Omega method which is based on creep deformation was applied to the life estimation. As a result, it was proved that the Omega method could predict the residual life during tertialy creep within a factor of 1.5. Furthermore the application of this method to the operating boiler tube and pipe was discussed.
