N2 - In this study, we fabricated dense Al-Si-C-N ceramics from AlN-SiC powder mixtures by spark plasma sintering technique at 2000°C for 10 min in an Ar flow with various compositions. The relative densities of Al-Si-C-N ceramics were over 99%. From XRD analysis, AlN-SiC solid solutions (2H and 6H) were found in AlN-3SiC (AlN 25) and AlN-SiC (AlN 50) composition. The bending strength of the AlN 25 sample was higher than that of commercial SiC ceramics because of limited grain growth by SPS.
