Abstract
In sialyllactose synthesis using neuraminidase, (α2-6) sialyllactose is dominantly produced under the conditions ordinarily used. In a preliminary test, we investigated the time course of the reaction and found that the ratio of (α2-3) sialyllactose to (α2-6) sialyllactose was relatively high in the early stage of the reaction after which it gradually decreased. A membrane reactor was constructed that could extract low molecular weight molecules such as sialyllactose from the solution immediately. When the reactor was utilized to synthesize sialyllactose, it performed well and high of (α2-3) sialyllactose productivity was achieved.
