Abstract

This paper describes two kinds of environmental sensing devices for telecommunication facility maintenance. The first is a highly-sensitive portable helium gas detector that can be used for cable -hole inspection. The second is a highly accurate inexpensive liquid-level gauge to detect leaks in underground oil tanks. This work supports NTT's policy, outlined in its global environmental charter, of protecting the environment by using construction and maintenance materials and methods that do not have a negative impact on the environment.
