Abstract

Energy dissipation of vortices in organic superconductor κ-(BEDT-TTF)2Cu(NCS)2 was investigated by free torsional damping oscillation in magnetic fields up to 8 kOe in the temperature range from 1.5 K to Tc = 10 K. Damping coefficient ηsample was obtained as a function of the magnetic field H and the temperature T. For instance, Hbc-plane = 500 Oe, the ηsample has a sharp peak near 3.5 K just below irreversibility line Hirr(T). Magnetic phase defined by the ηsample peak is presented.
