Abstract

(Chemical Equation Presented) The first enantioselective synthesis of a mealybug sex pheromone with an unprecedented monoterpenoid skeleton has been accomplished by using a highly diastereoselective conjugate addition of an organocopper reagent to a γ-alkyl-α,β-unsaturated ester intermediate as the key step.
