Abstract
We study theoretically the influence of solitons in a charge-density-wave (CDW) system on its electronic conductivity. We find that the local conductivity is reduced due to solitons by an amount proportional to the local soliton density. Furthermore, the soliton gives rise to low-frequency absorption associated with its intragap states which will provide a definitive signature of the existence of solitons.
