Electron-spin manipulation in quantum dot systems

Abstract

Recent experimental and theoretical progress as regards the full manipulation of electron spins in quantum dot systems is reviewed. In order to realize coherent single-spin manipulation, we propose quantum-dot devices with an integrated high-frequency line designed to generate an ac magnetic field. We also discuss in detail the electric dipole spin resonance realized with a slanting Zeeman field. After discussions of the exchange coupling between the two electron spins in a double quantum-dot system, we present current spectra of a hybrid vertical-lateral double quantum-dot device.
