Abstract

A discontinuous change of the ultrasonic attenuation coefficient as a function of the magnetic field which is recently observed in Bi around H = 100 kG by Yoshida et al. has been interpreted as coming from the discontinuous change in the carrier number. Theoretical discussion is given based on the random phase approximation.
