Electromagnetic vibration process for producing bulk metallic glasses

A new method for producing bulk metallic glasses using electromagnetic vibrations was discussed. This electromagnetic vibration process is considered to be effective in other bulk metallic glass systems if the clusters in the liquid state cause the crystal nucleation. The micrograph for the alloy without the electromagnetic vibrations, namely, that produced at a magnetic flux density of 0 T, shows crystalline structures alone. It is observed that this method is effective in enhancing apparent glass-forming ability in Mg-65-Cu25-Y10 alloys.
