Electrical transport properties of al-cu-os icosahedral quasicrystal

    Abstract

    The conductivity at 4.2 K in the Al65CU20OS15 icosahedral phase (i-phase) is about 10Ω-1cm-1, which is much lower than those of Al-Cu-Fe and Al-Cu-Ru i-phases reported previously. However, the overall temperature dependence of the conductivity and the magnetoconductivity behave very similarly to one another among the three i-phases. Their behaviors in a low-temperature region can be described by the electron-electron interaction and the weak localization theories.
