Abstract
DyB2C2 undergoes an antiferroquadrupolar (AFQ) ordering at TQ=24.7K. Electrical resistivity and AC-susceptibility experiments were performed in order to elucidate the transition behavior in the Y-diluted compounds Dy1-xYxB2C2. The Y dilution decreases both the AFQ and antiferromagnetic (AFM) transition temperatures. Although, the AFQ transition temperature disappears at x=0.5, the AFQ order exists up to x=0.6 below the AFM transition temperature. The anomalous behavior appears around TN in the resistivity and susceptibility curves for 0.5≤x, where the AFM and AFQ transitions undergo simultaneously.
