Efficient nonlinear optical property in poled silica films doped with disperse red 1 and their waveguide-type device application

Abstract

Sol-gel processed silica films doped with Disperse Red 1 (DR1) are prepared in higher concentration than previous report. Corona-poled complex organic-inorganic film shows a large second-harmonic-generation (SHG) coefficient of deff = 110 pm/V at a DR1 concentration of 40 wt%. Moreover, a ridge-type channel waveguide of the complex film is fabricated by the photolithography technique, and Cerenkov-type phase-matched SHG is successfully observed.
