Efficient fiber gratings formed on high NA dispersion-shifted fibers

Abstract

A wide gap of 7 nm between the Bragg wavelength and the onset of radiation mode coupling in a highly reflective fiber grating has been achieved by using a high NA dispersion-shifted fiber (DSF). As a result, highly reflective chirped gratings with a bandwidth of 8 nm have been achieved. This type of DSF is also suitable for highly reflective multi-wavelength filters.
