Abstract
The effect of serrations initiated in the elastic deformation region before macroscopic yielding on the mechanical behaviour of Zr65Fe 5Cu20Al10 bulk metallic glassy rods was analysed using a large number of samples. The apparent work-hardening-like behaviour and the plasticity tend to increase with the number of shear bands in the pre-yield region, which was analysed in terms of interaction with the shear bands generated during plastic deformation.
