Abstract

Influence of quinaldic acid on insulin release from isolated Langerhans islets of rats was studied. It was found that quinaldic acid by itself caused insulin release on the one hand and that it inhibited the 2nd phase of glucose induced insulin release on the other. A possible mechanism concerning the effect of quinaldic acid on β cells of Langerhans islets is presented.
