Effect of pressure on the giant magnetoresistance of Fe/Cu magnetic multilayer

Abstract

Giant magnetoresistance (GMR) of a [Fe 10.1 Å/Cu 13.7 Å]15 magnetic multilayer (Fe/Cu MML) has been measured at room temperature, 77 and 4.2 K under high pressure. It is found that the magnitude of GMR of Fe/Cu MML is almost independent of pressure at room temperature and 77 K, while it decreases with increasing pressure at 4.2 K. The result of Fe/Cu MML is compared with that of Co/Cu MML.
