Abstract

The effect of machine shape on swimming properties of micromachine were examined by means of two-dimensional finite volume method. The calculated data was compared with experimental results. Based on the results, a guideline was established for designing the spiral-blade of the micro-machine. A prototype micromachine was successfully prepared by means of photo-fabrication. Swimming properties of the photofabricated micro-machine agreed well with calculation.
