Effect of Coulomb Interaction in the Resonant X-Ray Emission Spectra of Hexagonal BN

Abstract

The resonant X-ray emission spectra for B 1s core excitation in h-BN are analyzed theoretically by a simple cluster model. It is shown that the observed spectral features are well reproduced by taking into account the effect of core hole potential and the Coulomb interactions in the valence electrons. The anomalous reduction of the π-component in the spectator emission is explained as a result of suppression of hybridization in the valence band due to the screening of the core hole by the spectator electron.
