Early experience of proton beam therapy combined with chemotherapy for locally advanced oropharyngeal cancer

Abstract

Between 2009 and 2012, 10 patients with advanced oropharyngeal cancer underwent proton therapy combined with chemotherapy. The initial results of this therapy were 8CR and 2PR, local recurrence was detected 1 patient. Proton beam therapy combined with chemotherapy is thought to be an effective treatment for locally advanced oropharyngeal cancer.
