Domain structure in a micron-sized PbZr1-xTixO 3 single crystal on a Ti substrate fabricated by hydrothermal synthesis

Abstract

Hydrothermal synthesis was used for the fabrication of submicron and micron-sized isolated PbZr1-xTixO3 (PZT) single crystals and ferroelectric thin films on a Ti susbstrate. It was observed that isolated PZT crystal exhibited a hysteresis behavior of piezoresponse which confirms the presence of ferroelectricity. A twinned domain structure was found in the form of a polydomain pattern. A three-dimensional domain structure of the isolated PZT crystal was proposed which includes the formation of c/a walls along coherent planes in the tetragonal cell.
