Diffused Light Control by Layer-Structured PDLC for Future Viewing Angle Controllable Display Applications

Research output: Contribution to journalConference articlepeer-review

Abstract

We have established a control technique of light distribution pattern by controlling an internal polymer structure of PDLCs. We achieved layer-structured PDLC by using micro convex structures and irradiating them with unidirectional diffused UV light. The backlight system using layer-structured PDLC and collimated backlight enables to control the viewing angle range of LCDs with high light utilization efficiency.
