title = "Differential leaching of some lead smelter slags with sulfurous acid and oxygen",
abstract = "Lead smelter slags from two different sources have been leached using sulfurous acid/oxygen as the leachant so as to dissolve zinc and copper values but not the contained iron. The differences in the leaching behaviour are explained in terms of the different slag compositions. The mixed control shrinking core model adequately described the relationship between fractional extraction and time.",

note = "Funding Information: The authors are indebted to the managements of Broken Hill Associated Smelters Pty. Ltd., Port Pirie, South Australia, and of Mount Isa Mines Limited, Mount Isa, Queensland, for supplying the slag samples used in this study and for information on the smelter operations. Acknowledgement is made also to the Australian Research Grants Committee for financial support of general leaching studies. Finally, the authors would like to express their appreciation to Miss Mary Didolas for her contributions to the investigation.",
