Abstract

We investigated a numerical method for simulating combined heat and moisture transfer processes in desiccant rotors. This method can be used to evaluate dehumidification performance of desiccant rotors. For the numerical simulation, the moisture transfer coefficient between the desiccant surface and air is required. However, the coefficient varies during the adsorption- desorption process, and it strongly affects the simulation result. Thus, we propose a method for identifying and generalizing it by a simple experiment. The numerical simulation incorporating the generalized moisture transfer coefficient was found to quite successfully predict the dehumidification performance of desiccant rotors.
