Development of integrated subcriticality-monitoring system for ADS and experimental verification by using STACY

Abstract

In order to operate accelerator driven subcritical system safely, it is necessary to monitor the subcriticality in real-time. In this paper, we propose a highly accurate real-time subcriticality-monitoring system by combining the existing multiple measurement techniques, a number of neutron detectors, and computations. Combining the advantages of each technique and averaging among the multiple measurements, the system provides high accurate subcriticality in real-time. This system was examined by subcritical experiments using STAtic experiment Critical facilitY. The experimental results showed that the subcriticalities of the results of this system agreed with the reference values, and it showed the system is useful as a real-time monitor.
