N2 - The development of hafnium hydride absorber targets on the extension of control rod lifetime in order to reduce generation cost and radioactive wastes in fast reactors, comparing with enriched boron carbide. In order to secure the safety in a manufacturing process of hafnium hydride pellets as well as the safety use in a FBR reactor, it is necessary to understand the high temperature stability of hafnium hydride. The hydrogen release experiment and the firing experiment of hafnium hydride pellets were conducted.
