Abstract

The large superconducting coil (SC coil) generating 12T at the center was designed and fabricated to be used for the hybrid magnet. The inner bore and the height of the coil is 430 mm and 680 mm, respectively. The stored energy is about 23 MJ at the rated current of 1456 A. The Nb//3Sn conductor performance test was carried out to measure I//c under the combined strain. I//c value was about 2500 A at 13T. The coil performance test was carried out to measure the field distribution and the helium evaporation rate prior to hybrid magnet operation. The coil was successfully operated up to the rated current. The measured evaporation rate of liquid helium was about 12. 3 L-SCRIPT /hr without excitation current.
