Design of well-defined nano-structured hydrogels by nanogel engineering

Abstract

The synthesis and characterization of polymerizable self-assembled nanogels that were constituted of methacryloyl group-bearing cholesteryl-bearing pullulans (CHPMA) were discussed. The novel hybrid nanogels and macrogels were prepared by polymerization with 2-methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine (MPC) in which polymers show high biocompatibility. The nanogels of MPC polymer-CHP conjugate (CM) were prepared by free radical polymerization between CHPMA nanogels and MPC in dilute acqueous solution. The percentage of swelling ratio of CM microgels was observed to be MacroCM10 ± 282, and MacroCM100; 1989 ± 96.
