Design of stimuli-responsive materials with chaperonins

Abstract

Chaperonin GroEL has a cylindrical cavity and encapsulates guests inside this cavity. In the presence of ATP, GroEL undergoes a large conformational change and releases the guest. We design engineered chaperons which are modfied by fluorescent units around the cavity and succeeden in encapsulating dendrimers. The optical properties of thus modified GroELs will be reported.
