Abstract
To investigate about the effective mass of the carriers at the Fermi level, we carried out cyclotron resonance experiments in single crystals of the intermediate valent systems Yb4(As0.6P0.4)3 and Yb4(As0.71Sb0.29)3 at several frequencies above 95 GHz. In the former material, a strong double cyclotron resonance absorption indicates cyclotron masses of 0.60 and 0.87me, while in the latter material no cyclotron absorption was observed up to 18 T. This excludes the possibility of Yb4(As0.6P0.4)3 to be a heavy fermion and indicates a lower limit of 5.3me for the cyclotron mass in Yb4(As0.71Sb0.29)3.
