CUSP field single pole head with high recording resolution

The structure of cusp field SPT head was studied to improve high linear density characteristics. This head consists of a main pole with a thickness of 400 nm, two layers of pancake coils and two return path yokes. It was observed that smaller the separation, higher head field gradient is obtained.
