Cu lwhite lines of cu compounds studied by electron energy loss spectroscopy

Abstract

Cu L2 3 near edge fine structures of Cu compounds were investigated by electron energy loss spectroscopy. In Cu60Ti40, small but sharp white lines at the Cu L23 edge were observed. The white lines were attributed to the charge transfer between the Cu-3d band and Ti-3d band. Similar white lines were observed in Al6JCu24Fe]3, but the full width at half the maximum (FVVHM) of the lines are much wider than those of CuTi. In the energy loss spectra of Al-Cu alloys, a white line at the L3 edge with a wide FWHM was also observed, and it was found that the height of the L3 line of the Al-Cu alloys at about 930 eV tends to increase with the increase of Al content.
