Crystallization of Pd40Cu30Ni10P20 bulk glass under pressure

The effect, of pressure on the crystallization behavior of the Pd40Cu30Ni10P20 bulk glass with a wide supercooled liquid region has been investigated by in situ high-pressure and high-temperature X-ray powder diffraction using synchrotron radiation. In the pressure range from 0 to 4 GPa, the crystallization temperature increases with pressure having a slope of 11K/GPa. The eutectic crystallization reaction mode and crystalline phases formed are unchanged in the pressure range used. The enhancement of the crystallization temperature with increasing pressure in the bulk glass can be explained by the suppression of atomic mobility.
