In this work, co-doping YAP:Pr scintillator with tetravalent ions (Zr/Si/Hf) and trivalent ions (Mo/Ga) was made in the search for feasible technological way to suppress the charge trapping centers that may exist in this material. Systematic study and single crystal growth were performed by using the micro-pulling-down method. Square-shaped YA103:(Pr,Zr), YA103:(Pr,Si), YA103:(Pr,Hf), YA103:(Pr,Mo) and YA103:(Pr,Ga) crystals with selected co-dopant concentrations were grown. Effect of the co-doping on optical and scintillation characteristics is discussed. All co-doping ions tested in this work have no significant positive influence on the scintillation performance of YAP:Pr.
