Crystal growth and characterization of Sr3Y(BO3) 3

The growth, optical and luminescence characteristics of Pr-doped Sr 3Y(BO3)3 (Pr:SrYBO) single crystals are studied. The Pr:SYBO single crystals with dimension of φ 2.0 × 30 mm3 were grown by micro-pulling down method with radio frequency heating system. The emission bands at 280-300 nm and 608 nm correspond to 5d-4f transition and 4f-4f transition of Pr3+ respectively, and were observed under 250 nm excitation. Under the α-ray excitation only the 4f-4f luminescence of Pr3+ was observed.
