Cross-calibration of ground-based SAR by using ALOS/PALSAR and a retrieval of soil moisture

Abstract

We did a simultaneous experiment of Ground-Based SAR (GB-SAR) and PALSAR over bare soil area. Both observations were done with polarimetry mode and !0 values for each polarization, and Entropy/"/Anisotropy are calculated from the both data. Those values show well agreements in each parameter under some assumptions. We also estimate soil moisture value (Mv) and surface roughness value (s) and compare those with the one measured on the ground. While Mv could not estimate from the model due to an out of range of a parameter space, s is estimated to be 2.4cm. But s derived from field experiment is 0.7cm and show large discrepancy.
